The Procedure for Same-Day Crowns

Same-day crowns are milled from a single piece of ceramic material using CAD/CAM technology. Using 3D imaging to scan the patient’s tooth digitally, the CEREC machine uses its optical camera to create an accurate and minutely detailed image of the tooth and surrounding area. This image is transferred to the milling machine, which mills out the restoration from a ceramic block in just a few minutes. Once the milling is complete, the crown is tested to ensure a perfect fit before it is cemented into place. The entire process takes approximately two hours from start to finish. Same-day crowns are an attractive and convenient option that reduces chair time and improves patient comfort.
